Tomosynthesis is an innovative technology that can overcome the weakness of conventional mammography, because it improves detection and characterization of breast lesions especially in women with high breast density. Thanks to the display of reconstructed thin anatomical sections, it allows to unmask lesions that in conventional 2D projection could be obscured by surrounding tissues.
